“I’m so grateful to Leah for the excellent guidance and detailed instructions while editing my story. She took time to give valuable instructions, and her suggestions helped me to rethink a couple of scenes. This experience was an excellent learning exercise not only for this work, but for future projects. Thank you, Leah.”
“Leah Rubin at Your Second Pen, is the most amazing editor with whom I have had the pleasure to work. She does exactly what she says she will do and in the time frame she outlines. I learned of Leah through a writer friend and reached out via email, expecting to hear nothing for days. Within hours Leah contacted me to lay out the scope of her work and price.
Her first draft cleaned up my book in spectacular style — and it had already been edited by two other editors! Leah does not stop at one pass, however, and thoroughly gave it a second one. I would highly recommend Leah Rubin to anyone searching for a qualified, exemplary editor. She is honest, fair, and a gifted communicator. On a scale of 1-5 Leah gets a 10 from me.”
“I am so happy to have found Leah! She is a wonderful communicator and a wonderful person, high in integrity and wholly trustworthy. Her excellent language skills, timely and reliable work ethic, and detail-oriented approach (without messing with one’s creative work) are deeply appreciated.”
“I had the wonderful experience of working with Leah Rubin on my first book, The Lost Treasure of Sante Fe. She guided me with complete professionalism and added a touch of class to my work. Forever thankful Leah! I am working on my next idea for the book of all books that will change the world. Get ready!”
“As a new writer, I sought professional expertise before submitting my short stories to magazines. Leah came highly recommended. My journey continues thanks to her support and prompt
knowledgeable suggestions.”
“Leah Rubin’s work ethic and social graces make her a jewel of a copyeditor. I needed someone to shoulder through a complicated project. These last few weeks she’s found all my inconsistencies, a few plot holes, and even caused me to refigure some of the language conventions I had used in my historical-biographical novel. When a task was beyond her, she acquired an expert to appraise the situation. When I told her what I planned to do for my Table of Contents, she must have rolled her eyes. Leah’s tactfulness let me know it was my decision but I had the feeling I was standing on brittle glass. With Leah, you have a partner who looks out for you, cleans up your messes, but doesn’t alter your creative work. She’ll offer suggestions for you to consider or adjust and ask questions that make you think. If you need someone you can trust, who cares about your work, and who will polish your writing project into something to make you proud, Leah Rubin’s your person.”
“I’m amazed and grateful for the excellent editing Leah Rubin did on my latest mystery novel. It’s not only her skill and ability to catch the smallest error, but her professionalism, making it so easy and comfortable to work with her. And add to that, it’s all done in a very timely manner. Don’t go any further if you need an editor!”
“I was referred to Leah by another author and didn’t know what to expect. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Leah made many extraordinary suggestions that greatly helped improve my book. In addition, Leah was well organized and able to predict how long it woud take to get her editing work completed, making my planning easier. I have already recommended Leah’s services to other authors, some of whom think they don’t need editing. I might have thought that before I used Leah’s services, but now, I wouldn’t do without them.”
“I love working with Leah. She is not only very professional, but she is someone who is smart enough to understand what she has read and question when the writing loses its way.
She not only proofs my work, but her copyediting suggestions make my efforts clearly better. She is able to add grammatical lucidity without losing the tenor of my words.
I very much appreciate that she is always clear about when she can start and when she will finish a project. Never misses finishing on time!
I highly recommend her assistance to anyone who writes.

“When I subcontract a proofreader for my clients’ books, I want a proofreader who brings excellent language skills as well as a commitment to perfection. Leah Rubin, of Your Second Pen, brings those qualities to her work. She is not only capable of finding errors in grammatical structure and punctuation, she identifies issues with continuity and consistency. Working with her is a pleasure.”
“Leah is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. She abides by her rules, which are honesty, integrity, and trust. The moment I saw her first email among those of many other copyeditors bidding for my work, all I said to myself was “Oh, my God. Here is a real person and she proved that she is brilliant.”
Leah is a person who believes that humanity should live with a spirit of happiness. I highly recommend her for any writer, especially English as a Second Language writers who have tons of ideas but no means of getting them out. I encourage these writers to keep writing and then ask Leah to edit. They will be amazed. Once she puts on her editor glasses, she carefully edits, asks for clarity, and never enforces her opinion—even if she disagrees. She is more than an editor; she is a mentor and an advocate for a writer and won’t give up until she is satisfied with her work. If it wasn’t for Leah, my book would mean nothing. I don’t know if my book will be successful but if it becomes a best seller, Leah deserves 50% of the credit.”
“Leah Rubin recently completed proofing and editing a nonfiction book for me that is to be published in 2019. She is accurate, conscientious, meets deadlines easily and is an absolute pleasure to work with. I look forward to another project with Leah to begin soon, and I highly recommend her services and her personal dedication to doing the best job possible for her clients.”
“Leah Rubin is insistent on being precise with her editing and professionalism. She is a consummate communicator who also allows space for my writer’s cave.”
“I’m a first-time fiction writer with the handicap of English being my second language. Leah Rubin’s services of line editing and proofreading were unbelievably helpful in getting my manuscript together, after years of trying to work with other copyeditors. I’m forever grateful for her extreme patience with my creative indecisiveness and her dedication in helping to move my project forward.”
“It has been a pleasure working with Leah Rubin on both the editing of our Employee Handbook, as well as our Finance Department Manual. She offered not only editing advice, but very valuable content suggestions. She took her time to thoroughly review every section of both manuals, which I appreciated. By the time both items were sent to our management team, there were no suggestions they could offer, as both documents were perfect.”
